The “Ride-along” program provides citizens an opportunity to ride along in a cruiser with a Whately Police Officer as they perform their daily duties.
The purpose of this program is to help community members better understand how their police department functions by providing them an opportunity to experience the challenges faced by officers in today's society. Whether you are interested in a career in law enforcement, or are just curious about how the Whately Police Department functions, this program serves a valuable purpose.
Whately residents 18 years of age and older are required to fill out the application, including a liability waiver found in the link below. Applicants will undergo a criminal background check to assess their eligibility and would meet with the police chief to discuss the rules and procedures of the program. A ride along would then be scheduled at a time convenient to the community member.
If you have questions about the Whately Police Department's Ride-Along Program, please feel free to contact Chief James A. Sevigne Jr.
