Cemeteries

Whately cemetery

Contributing to the rich history of Whately, are three major cemeteries: West Cemetery, Center Cemetery and East Cemetery. Many of the stones date back as early as the 1700′s. All three cemeteries contain the burial sites for many revolutionary and civil war veterans. Hidden among the epitaphs, are the stories of bravery, hardship and illness. These stones record the births, deaths, and marriages of Whately’s townspeople for several centuries.

We ask that you please enjoy our beautiful cemeteries from dawn to dusk. Don't forget that dogs love to walk through cemeteries too! Lots to smell, no cars and plenty of grass, but please remember to pick up any treasures they might deposit along the way.
