Primaries vs. Elections (PARTY)

In a Primary, your registered party determines which ballot you can vote. If you are registered as a Republican, you can only have a Republican Ballot. If you are registered as a Democrat, you can only have a Democrat Ballot. If you are registered as Unenrolled (no party/ formally known as Independent), or if you registered with a political designation (such as Green-Rainbow or Libertarian) you may choose which ballot to take. Please note: Once you choose a ballot, you may not exchange it for a different party ballot. Please review the sample ballots carefully before stating which ballot you would like.

In an Election, it does not matter which party you are enrolled in. There is only 1 ballot and you can vote for whichever candidate you choose regardless of party.
