The Town of Whately is hiring for 3 positions!
Full-Time Police Officer: The Town of Whately is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver’s license, a MA Firearms License (LTC), and pass a background check including CORI. Qualifications include graduation from an approved MPTC full-time academy or POST full-time certification, current part-time employees are required to meet POST/MPTC training requirements of the Bridge Academy. The position consists of a 40 hour work week, with a base salary of $48,800, and benefits package. The successful applicant must live within 15 miles of Whately (MGL c. 41 sec 99A).

Administrative Assistant:The Town of Whately is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing customer service to residents, maintaining the Town’s website and social media accounts, preparing meeting minutes, submitting invoices for payment, assisting departments, boards and committees, scheduling the use of Town facilities and completing other administrative duties. This temp to hire position is benefitted at 24 hours per week with additional hours required during the budget development process in the spring. The starting pay rate is $21.57 per hour. Attendance at evening meetings of the Selectboard, Finance Committee and Personnel Committee is required. The ideal candidate will have 0 to 3 years of municipal work experience, strong communication and organizational skills, is proficient with the use of Microsoft Office applications and has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Full-Time: Community Development Administrator – Assistant Town Administrator: The Town of Whately is accepting applications for the position of Community Development Administrator/Assistant Town Administrator. Duties include: provides technical expertise to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals to ensure effective planning and management of development and redevelopment; assists the Planning Board in the development and implementation of amendments to the Town’s Zoning By-laws and other land use regulations; engages in long range planning activities to ensure that local plans are up to date; works collaboratively with various boards and committees to develop and submit grant applications; independently manages community development projects and provides general administrative support to the Town Administrator. Attendance at evening meetings of various boards and committees is required. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 3 years of municipal work experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
