Whately's Well Pollution Crisis and Its Consequences
Sunday, November 6 at 6pm at Whately Town Hall
Join us on to learn about the 1980's Whately water crisis when town wells in E. Whately were found to be polluted with farm chemicals. It's a fascinating story of a community pulling together to solve a major problem and then establishing safeguards to try to ensure that it never happens again. The talk features a 1990 EPA video about the crisis featuring Paul Fleuriel, Frank Marchand, Myron Maiewski and Ken Lindsay, comments on the crisis by Frank Marchand, and Tom Litwin describing efforts to enact the Aquifer Protection District.
Were you affected? Come and tell your stories. We'd love to hear them.
Sponsored by the Whately Historical Society.
