Geocaching 101

A Form of Treasure Hunting
geocaching
Event Date:
Saturday, April 7, 2018 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

You will learn what geocaching is, see different types of containers you may be looking for, learn about the different acronyms used to write logs, TOTT (tools of the trade), trackables, get to talk to other geocachers, and more.   Approximately 1 hour inside to learn/discuss geocaching, then outside to go on a group geocaching walk nearby to experience the thrill of finding a cache!

Please come dressed in comfortable walking clothes, appropriate outerwear and footwear for the weather (we will not be "hiking" but will be walking outside).  Geocachers always come prepared with a pen (BYOP), just in case there isn't one in the cache container (CC).  If you have a hand-held GPS you're welcome to bring it, or load the geocaching app on your smartphone to get started.  For those who may not have the equipment, the library has a kit that can be loaned out to enjoy the adventure!
