During the recommended social distancing to minimize the spread of the coronavirus, Whately and the South County Senior Center are taking steps to ensure all senior residents have access to healthy meals. To take advantage of this opportunity, seniors have two options:
Option # 1: Meal Pickup - Call the South County Senior Center at 1-413-665-2141 and reserve a prepared meal (lunch and breakfast for the next day). Meals are distributed Monday through Friday. Once reserved you may pick your meals between 11:30 am and 12:00 (noon). Please be sure to let the Senior Center staff know if you want meals each of the five days or certain days. The address of the Senior Center is 67 North Main Street in South Deerfield, right next to the Deerfield Police Station and Town Office Building.
Option # 2: Meal Delivery - South County Senior Center staff are providing for the home delivery of meals. If you want to stay at home during this pandemic, please call the Senior Center at 1-413-665-2141 and reserve a meal, but also ask that the meal be delivered to your home. If you leave a message, please be sure to give your name, telephone number and street address.
There is a suggested donation of $3.00 per meal if you can afford it; however, no one will be denied meals because of an inability to pay. The preferrred method of payment is check, but cash will be accepted. Please consider purchasing meals a week or two at a time to cut down on the number of checks written or cash that needs to be handled by staff. We hope that this helps you get through these difficult times.
