Do I Need a Permit?

How to apply for a permit..............

Obtaining an application:
Use the above links to determine which application form you need. Applications can be downloaded through the link above or picked up in the Whately Selectmen's Office at 218 Chestnut Plain Rd, 413-665-4400.

Submitting the application for approval:
Completed applications must be submitted the Franklin County Cooperative Inspection Program (address is listed on the top of the application or see above) for approval. Your building project may involve the approval of a Town department before submitting the application with the building inspector. If you have any questions regarding the necessary steps, call Town Administrator Lynn Sibley at 413-665-4400.

Picking up the building permit (see below for electrical and plumbing):
Once the building inspector approves the application, the FCCIP forwards the building permit to the Selectmen's Office at 218 Chestnut Plain Rd in Whately. You will receive a notice from the FCCIP that the permit is ready to be picked up. If your project includes plans, you must bring an additional copy when you come to pick up your permit along with the permit fee. Checks should be made out to the Town of Whately. You may call for the Selectmen's Office hours.

Electrical and Plumbing Permits are obtained directly from FCCIP. Call their office with any questions regarding approval, payments, and office hours - 413-772-2026.

Feel free to call the Selectmen's Office at 413-665-4400 with any questions.
