Potential Whately CPA Projects

 

 

Historic Preservation

CPA funds may be used to preserve or rehabilitate historic resources, including buildings, landscapes, and other historic objects.  Rehabilitation may include making public buildings handicap accessible.  Possible projects are:

  

Restoration and rehabilitation of Town Hall  

Archival storage for town and historical society archives

Making the library handicap accessible      

Cemetery restoration              

Open Space

CPA funds may be used to acquire and preserve open space, including agricultural resources, watersheds, etc.  Possible Whately open space projects:

  

Purchase of conservation easements

Purchase of land for watershed protection or conservation of wildlife habitats

Local match for the state Agricultural Preservation Restriction program.

Affordable Housing

Funds may be used for a wide variety of projects that help create and support affordable housing in Whately, including:

Recreation

 CPA revenues may be used to purchase or enable use of sites for recreational purposes and to make improvements on sites acquired with CPA funds.  Possible projects in Whately include

  

Purchase of trail easements for hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, etc.

Acquisition of playgrounds and playing fields

River access for boating
